For the second year in a row, Raleigh has unveiled the return of the Chopper in two more retro colours: Fizzy Lemon and Space Blue.
This follows last May’s relaunch of Infrared and Ultraviolet models, based on the iconic MK2, following five years of research and product development.
Bringing the 1970s bike back for the modern day has legally required some changes, but the brand insists it is “as close to the original as possible” – with the classic one-piece saddle, mid-frame gear shifter and sissy bar, which has been slightly lowered.
Michelle Jakeway, activation manager at Raleigh said:‘’The Raleigh Chopper really is the iconic bike. Everyone knows it, and countless people have fond memories of the first time they saw or rode one.
‘’When we brought it back last year, the enthusiasm was off the scale, and the limited run sold out in minutes. We’re so excited to be re-introducing two colours this year, Fizzy Lemon and Space Blue.
‘’At Raleigh, our ethos is to create bikes that are fun to ride, and enable people to create memories that last a lifetime. There is no better bike than the Chopper to do just that, and we can’t wait to see the adventures our brand fans will have with these new releases”.
Raleigh is no stranger to a heritage remake with the Super Tuff Burner and the TI-Raleigh seeing retro editions in recent years.
In 2023, the return of the Chopper became headline news as fans flocked to find out how they could get their hands on the bike.
The full run sold out online, and in-person sales at Raleigh in Nottingham saw overnight queues.
This time around, due to anticipated high-demand, Raleigh will be using an online queuing system.
The limited edition Fizzy Lemon and Space Blue Choppers will retail at £999, and will be available to order online from Tuesday, July 9, at 12pm BST.
